Down Payment Assistance Programs In Tucson Out Of Funds

Need help coming up with a downpayment on a new home?  In Tucson, public grant money is all but used up for the year.

Family Housing Resources announced today that down payment assistance programs (DPA) funded through FHA, Chicanos Por La Causa and Old Pueblo Community Foundation are suspending operation for the year.  Reason:  available funds have been used up for 2008.

There is one grant still available though...until its funds are exhausted...$10k assistance grants through FHR for people using the Pima County Bond Program to buy their homes.

Hopefully greater funding will be released for 2009, but for those needing the assistance now...better get moving before the last source dries up!

For people who are thinking about buying a home in 2009, let this be a wake-up call to act sooner in the coming year than later--you don't want to be left out!

i am hearing rumors of a government 'pardon' - a reprieve of the ban on DPA - led by the building industry lobby ?? you hear anything

I'm hoping James has heard something new. For anyone who hoped for the special programs they are a bit tougher to find now... thankfully... interest rates are looking really good lately.

What is the Pima County Bond Program? What is FHR? My husband and I have been approved for a loan, but we can't come up with a down payment....

Posted by Sarah Miller about 1 year ago

Sarah - the Pima County Bond program is an assistance program for residents in Pima County, Arizona - where Tucson is.  FHR - is actually a misprint...I meant to put FHA there.  Thank you for pointing it out and now have corrected it.

There might be programs and loan packages available besides the Pima Bond...where do you and your husband live?  I'll do my best to refer you to someone who can help, please feel free to give me a call at 520.940.6951 or email me here!

Hi Kent,  The USDA Program offers 100% financing if that is suited for your area and the Bond Money Program.

FHA also accepts the 3% down to come from a family member as a gift. THE DPA program is gone, but I am still using these programs and the VA if the client is a Veteran and they can obtain 100% financing. Good Luck to you !
